You may proceed without fully loaded audio. 2007-2008 Williamsville State Bank and Trust Students of the Month Williamsville State Bank and Trust is proud to sponsor the Williamsville High School Student of the Month and Student of the Year Program for the 2007-2008 School Year. In addition to awards given for being selected as Student of the Month, the Student of the Year receives a cash award of $1250 from the Williamsville State Bank and Trust. The bank provides the winner of the Director's Award with a cash gift of $750 and the winner of the CEO Award with a cash gift of $500 in recognition of their outstanding achievements. Students of the Month are selected by the senior class sponsors based on academic and leadership accomplishments, extracurricular activity and personality traits. The Student of the Year is selected through an interview process with each of the Students of the Month. Caroline Williams Williamsville State Bank and Trust Student of the Year April Student of the Month
Caroline is 4th in her class with a GPA of 4.845. She is consistently on the high honor roll. She is a member of the WHS chapter of the National Honor Society and is an Illinois State Scholar. She's also been accepted into Who's Who Among American High School Students, as well as chapters for Leadership, All American Scholars, and English. Caroline is a representative of the Lady Bullets' Volleyball, Basketball, and Track & Field teams. Caroline has received numerous basketball awards such as being nominated for the All State 4th Team, Sangamo Conference 1st Team, All Area 3rd Team, Sangamon County All Tournament Team, and Prairie State Conference 1st Team. In addition to sports, Caroline has also participated in WHS Drama productions, Madrigals, Yearbook, Band, Choir, and SAVE. She has proven her leadership skills after being elected President or Vice President of her class each of her four years at WHS. She is also currently serving as President of Student Council and Vice President of Madrigals. Caroline has volunteered many service hours for organizations such as the United Cerebral Palsy, the Williamsville Vocal Music Boosters, Big Brothers Big Sisters, and Contact Ministries. She has also served as a camp counselor at Bee Bee Basketball camp. She has done a great job of maintaining a full schedule of academics, athletics, extra-curriculars, and a part-time job. Caroline plans to attend college at Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville, majoring in Engineering. Congratulations to Caroline and her parents, Don and Fran Williams of Sherman!

______________________________________________________________________ Jared Hayward Director's Award December Student of the Month
Jared is 3rd in his class with a weighted GPA of 4.88. He is a High Honor Roll student, an Illinois State Scholar, and is a member of the WHS National Honor Society and the Youth & Government program. Due to his high score on the PSAE Exam, Jared was, named to the All Exceeds Team. Last summer, Jared was chosen to be the Menard Electric Cooperative Representative in Washington, DC. This honor allowed Jared to meet several Senators and Representatives and visit many historical sites. Besides being outstanding academically, Jared has played four years of varsity level Bullet Soccer. During his senior year, he was named Captain. He has earned honors which include being named to the First Team - All Conference Team, All Tournament Team in the Crusader Classic, and Honorable Mention for the All Sectionals Team. Jared has also been recognized several times for his artistic abilities in shows such as the Scholastic Art Show. Community service involvement completes this well rounded student. He has given his time to help the SUMC and the Bullet Soccer Team with various fundraising projects such as car washes and youth soccer camps, chicken dinners, and Vacation Bible School. He participated in a mission trip with his youth group by traveling to Southern Kentucky and helping less fortunate families with basic necessities. Jared plans to attend Bradley University, majoring in Engineering. Elena is 2nd in her class with a weighted GPA of 4.92. She is consistently listed on the high honor roll. She is a member and current President of the WHS S.A.V.E. chapter, previously serving as Historian. She is also a member of the WHS chapter of the National Honor Society, currently serving as Member-at-Large. Elena is also recognized in Who's Who Among American High School Students. Elena has participated in a variety of activities while attending Williamsville High School. Along with S.A.V.E. and Youth & Government, Elena competed on the Scholastic Bowl Team and the Lady Bullets Golf Team. On the golf team, Elena participated in the state golf tournament during the 2006 & 2007 golf seasons, with the team placing 7th & 8th respectively. She is also part of the crew in the WHS Drama Department. During the 2006 WHS musical, Elena helped actors on the make-up crew. She is currently a Property Mistress on the set of 2007 musical South Pacific. Helping others is extremely important to Elena. She has volunteered countless hours to a variety of organizations such as the WHS Community Food & Teen Gift Drive, Memorial Hospital's Festival of Trees, ILCAAAP, North County Teen Court, United Cerebral Palsy, Operation Snowball/Snowflurry/Snowflake, LPGA State Farm Classic, the WHS “Senior Prom”, and the Illinois Federation of Music Clubs. She has also volunteered around WHS as well, serving as a tour guide, concession worker, and teacher aide. Elena plans to attend UIS or Blackburn College, majoring in Psychology. Maggie Mergen May Student of the Month
Maggie is 5th in her class with a GPA of 4.85. She is consistently on the high honor roll. She is a member of the WHS chapter of the National Honor Society. She is a member and vice president of the WHS SAVE chapter which promotes non-violent and anti-drug activities. She has also served as a lobbyist and legislator in the Youth and Government program. While at WHS, Maggie is a representative of the Lady Bullets' Volleyball team. Maggie received numerous awards such as Sangamo County All Conference First Team, Prairie State Conference First Team, and the Tournament All Team Award which honors top volleyball players in various local tournaments. She has also used her volleyball skills to help in the WJHS volleyball program as a coaching assistant. Maggie has also volunteered as a juror for the Teen Court program. As a Juror, Maggie serves as a mentor to teenagers who have gotten in trouble and helps advise them how to avoid better their situation as an alternative to going to court. Maggie plans to attend college and further her volleyball career at Villanova University, majoring in international business. Tara is 16th in her class with a GPA of 4.11. She is consistently on the high honor roll. She is a member of the WHS chapter of the National Honor Society and is involved in a large variety of extra-curricular activities. She is an Illinois State Scholar and a member of the Who's Who Among All American Scholars. Tara is a member of the FFA chapter and is currently serving as the chapter's Reporter. Tara played a huge role in planning and organizing this year's winter dance which is sponsored by the FFA and FCCLA chapters. She has also represented WHS on the Lady Bullets soccer and golf teams. She is currently serving as one of the captains of the soccer team, further proving her outstanding leadership skills. Outside of WHS, Tara is very involved in ice hockey and was the only player from Central Illinois to be chosen to be on the Illinois Girls Hockey All Star Team. Tara has also volunteered for several organizations including the Lake Springfield Christian Assembly summer camp as a camp counselor for WJHS students, the Williamsville Christian church, and the SYHA. Tara is a volunteer coach with SYHA and shares her hockey experience with young kids as well as the JV girls' hockey team. As part of the Williamsville Christian Church youth group, Tara has participated in several out-of-state mission trips, CIY's and other youth conventions. Tara has done a great job of balancing a busy schedule of academics, extra-curriculars, citizenship and a part-time job. Tara plans to attend college at SCI and ISU, majoring in Elementary Education with a minor in deaf education. Nina Pesch February Student of the Month
Nina is 1st in her class with a GPA of 4.95. She is consistently on the high honor roll and is a member of the WHS chapter of the National Honor Society. She is an Illinois State Scholar and a member of the PSAE All Exceeds Team. Nina is also a member of Who's Who Among American High School Students, Who's Who in Leadership, and Who's Who in English. She has been accepted into the James Scholar Honors Program which includes the top 15°10 of students admitted to the University of Illinois-Champaign's College of Business. While at WHS, Nina has been involved in a variety of activities including the Youth and Government program, the Lady Bullets Soccer Team, Scholastic Bowl, S.A.V.E., and the WHS band. Nina has volunteered at several organizations including Sherman United Methodist Church, the St. John's Breadline, the Children's Miracle Network, Big Brothers Big Sisters, and Contact Ministries. Marissa Collier January Student of the Month
Marissa is 8th in her class with a weighted GPA of 4.63. She is consistently on the high honor roll. As a result of good grades and outstanding character, Marissa is a member of the WHS chapter of the National Honor Society. She also won the DAR Award which is based on the criteria of leadership, dependability, service, scholarship, patriotism, and citizenship. Marissa has participated in a variety of activities while attending Williamsville High School. She has participated in five drama productions including "Footloose", "Seven Brides for Seven Brothers", "Grease", "South Pacific", and the "Pink Panther Strikes Again". Marissa is also a member and 2007 President of the Madrigal choir which hosts an annual dinner and tea and performs Renaissance pieces for the community. Marissa is a member of the Youth and Government program where she has served as a lobbyist and a newspaper correspondent. Helping others is extremely important to Marissa. She has donated her time to the American Cancer Society by participating in the Relay for Life campaign, United Cerebral Palsy as a camp counselor, and Camp Shaw-Waw-Nas-See as a camp counselor. She is also the softball statistician for the WHS Lady Bullets softball team. In order to prepare for her future, Marissa attended a week of summer camp at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield where she learned basic nursing skills and shadowed nurses in various departments. Marissa plans to attend Elmhurst College, majoring in nursing. Congratulations to Marissa, daughter of Beth and the late Mike Collier of Sherman! ____________________________________________
Spenser Morrissey November Student of the Month
Spenser is 23rd in his class with a weighted GPA of 3.9. Spenser consistently earns honor roll recognition. Spenser is a member of the WHS chapter of the National Honor Society, the Youth and Government program and the Madrigals vocal group at WHS. His teachers describe Spenser as polite, diligent, helpful and responsible. He actively participates in class and sets a great example for others to follow. With the STAND tutoring program, Spenser has helped students that might be struggling. He also volunteers at the Sherman Public Library by assisting the librarians, organizing donations, moving book shelves and helping with book sales. Spenser has also learned to multitask by working part-time jobs at McDonald's and Huddle House. Both jobs have helped him learn food preparation, customer service skills and the ability to work under pressure. After graduation, Spenser plans to attend Springfield College in Illinois-Benedictine University, majoring in math education. Keri is 8th in her class with a GPA of 4.64. She is consistently on the high honor roll. She has demonstrated strong personal characteristics such as organization, honesty, reliability, personal motivation, and productivity. She is a strong leader in the FCCLA organization. She is currently chapter President, while previously serving terms as Vice President and Co-Historian. She is also member of the National Honor Society. Keri has volunteered at several organizations including Riverton Elementary School, Villa Health Care Center West, and the WHS Library. Keri maintains a full schedule of academics, extracurricular activities, and a part-time job. Keri plans to attend college at LLCC and UIS, majoring in Elementary Education.
