Bank News | Business Update | Area Events | Student of the Month | Photo Gallery 2008-2009 Williamsville State Bank and Trust Students of the Month Williamsville State Bank and Trust is proud to sponsor the Williamsville High School Student of the Month and Student of the Year Program for the 2008-2009 School Year. In addition to awards given for being selected as Student of the Month, the Student of the Year receives a cash award of $1250 from the Williamsville State Bank and Trust. The bank provides the winner of the Director's Award with a cash gift of $750 and the winner of the CEO Award with a cash gift of $500 in recognition of their outstanding achievements. Students of the Month are selected by the senior class sponsors based on academic and leadership accomplishments, extracurricular activity and personality traits. The Student of the Year is selected through an interview process with each of the Students of the Month. Our 2009 Student of the Year announcement was made May 13th at the Senior Award Ceremony at Williamsville High School ...Congratulations to our Student of the Year and to our CEO and Directors Award winners and all our 2008-2009 Students of the Month

May Student of the Month Williamsville High School is pleased to announce that senior Will Heidorn has been selected as the May Student of the Month. Will was selected by the senior class sponsors on the basis of academic performance, extra-curricular participation, and personal traits. Will receives a $100 savings bond from the Williamsville State Bank and will also be eligible for Student of the Year. Will is 21st in his class with a weighted GPA of 4.531. He is a High Honor Roll student, a member of the WHS chapter of the National Honor Society and a member of the PSAE All Exceeds Team. He is a Junior Assistant Scoutmaster in Troop 330 within the Boy Scouts of America and is a member of the Boys Scouts' honor society, the Order of the Arrow. As part of the Boy Scouts, Will served in the Lincoln Pilgrimage Honor Guard. At WHS, Will is a member of the Chorus, Jazz Choir, and Madrigals. He has competed at the IMEA District Choir and District Jazz Contests, as well as receiving IMEA All State Honors for Chorus. He has also received Superior ratings for the IHSA State Music Contest. For his artistic endeavors, Will is a member of the Art Club. This year, he participated in the New Berlin Art Show and received 1st, 3rd, and 5th place medals. Will also submitted a winning design in the Bowl for Kids Sake's Bowling Pin Contest. Will is very active in the Grace Lutheran Church. He is a Youth Representative at the church. Will has assisted at the Grace Lutheran Food Pantry, volunteered at several Easter Breakfasts, and participated in the New Orleans Mission Trip. As a scout, he has helped distribute fliers and collect food for the annual Scouting for Food program. He also served as a Senior Patrol Leader at the Abraham Lincoln Council's Day Camp. For WHS, Will coordinated and designed two Madrigal backdrops. Will was accepted into the LLCC Honors Program where he will begin his quest for a degree in Architectural drafting. April Student of the Month Williamsville High School is pleased to announce that senior Lauren Brandt has been selected as the April Student of the Month. Lauren was. selected by the senior class sponsors on the basis of academic performance, extra-curricular participation, and personal traits. Lauren will receive a $100 savings bond from the Williamsville State Bank and will also be eligible for Student of the Year. Lauren is 7th in her class with a GPA of 4.82. She is a member of the High Honor Roll and the WHS Chapter of the National Honor Society. Lauren is also a member of the PSAE All Exceeds Team, an Illinois State Scholar, and a member of Who's Who Among American High School Students. Lauren is a member of Student Council and is currently serving as Treasurer. She is a Legislator for the WHS Youth and Government program. She is a member of SAVE, The Chamber, and the Art Club and has played two years on the Bullet soccer team. She acted in two school plays, The Pink Panther and Tom Sawyer, and worked backstage for three of the musicals produced by the WHS Drama department. Lauren is also very active in the North County Teen Court program. She has served as a juror and as the Foreman of the Jury. She also has used her leadership and academic ability to provide tutoring through the STAND program. She has volunteered for Friend in Deed, the Williamsville Community Food and Teen Gift Drive, Memorial's Festival of Trees, Special Olympics, and is a Central Illinois Community Blood Bank Donor. After graduation, Lauren plans to attend the University of Michigan as a student in the College of Literature, Science, and the Arts. March Student of the Month Williamsville High School is pleased to announce that senior Gary Stover has been selected as the March Student of the Month. Gary was selected by the senior class sponsors on the basis of academic performance, extra-curricular participation, and personal traits. Gary will receive a $100 savings bond from the Williamsville State Bank and will also be eligible for Student of theYear. Gary is 8th in his class with a weighted GPA of 4.79. He is a High Honor Roll student and an Illinois State Scholar. Gary is a member of the WHS chapter of the National Honor Society, Who's Who Among All American Scholars, and a member of the PSAE All Exceeds Team. He has received the President's Award for Educational Excellence and was selected as a representative for Menard Electric's Youth to Washington program. Gary was also recently recognized as Student of the Month among students in Sangamon County by the Susan Cook House foundation. . Besides being outstanding academically, Gary has also been involved in Bullet athletics and many extra curricular activities. Gary has excelled in the Bullet Soccer program and was named Varsity Soccer captain and Defender of the Year during his Senior year. Gary has also been a member of the Student Council, S.A.V.E., the Youth and Government program, and the WHS Drama Department. During its inaugural year at WHS, Gary is a Huddle Leader for the Fellowship of Christian Athletes program. Gary is very active in the Sherman United Methodist Church and the SUMC Youth Group. He has participated in two mission trips, helped at a variety of church functions, and has served as an assistant in the SUMC Vacation Bible School program. Gary has been employed at the after school child care program at SUMC since 2005. He has also volunteered hours for the Sangamon County Toys for Tots Campaign and the Williamsville Community Food and Teen Gift Drive. Gary plans to attend college at Washington University in St. Louis and major in Biology. Congratulations to Gary and his parents, Gary and Laurie Stover of Sherman!
February Student of the Month Williamsville High School is pleased to announce that senior Ashley Welker has been selected as the February Student of the Month. Welker has been selected the February Student of the Month. Ashley was selected by the senior class sponsors on the basis of academic performance, extracurricular participation, and personal traits. Ashley will receive a $100 savings bond from the Williamsville State Bank and will also be eligible for Student of the Year. Ashley is 6th in her class with a GPA of 4.91. She is a member of the High Honor Roll and the WHS Chapter of the National Honor Society. Ashley is also an Illinois State Scholar, a member of the National Society of High School Scholars, Who's Who Among American High School Students, Who’s Who Among All-American Scholars... and Who's Who in Leadership. Ashley has also received Student of the Month recognition by the Susan Cook House which recognizes high school students in Sangamon County. While at WHS, Ashley is a member of The Chamber and FCCLA. She has been actively involved the WHS Drama Department, serving as Dance Captain, as well as the Yearbook Staff, where she is Co-Editor. Ashley is also a student and dance assistant at Heather's Dance Centre in Springfield. She is a member of the competition team as well as the Dance Centre Express. As part of the Dance Centre, Ashley has experience organizing and setting up dance recitals, entertaining at local nursing homes, and performing on two Carnival cruises. She has also volunteered as a STAND tutor to assist WHS &. WJHS students with their studies. Ashley is a Vacation Bible School assistant, and also helps out distributing and collecting contributions for the WHS Community Food & Teen Gift Drive. After graduation, Ashley plans to attend college at UIUC in the pursuit of a career in Actuarial Science. Congratulations to Ashley and her parents, Brad and Dora Welker of Sherman!
January Student of the Month Williamsville High School is pleased to announce that senior Kathleen Rump has been selected as the January Student of the Month. Kathleen was selected by the senior class sponsors on the basis of academic performance, extracurricular participation, and personal traits. Kathleen will receive a $100 savings bond from the Williamsville State Bank and will also be eligible for Student of the Year. Kathleen is 9th in her class with a GPA of 4.79. She is a member of the High Honor Roll and the WHS Chapter of the National Honor Society. Kathleen is also an Illinois State Scholar and a member of the Lady Bullet soccer team. As a member of the soccer team, Kathleen has participated in state soccer competition the last two seasons. Kathleen has volunteered in the community by playing piano at the Sacred Heart Convent, the Mary Bryant Home for the Blind, and at a Christmas event for the Village of Williamsville. She has worked at the Williamsville High School Teen Gift and Community Food Drive, Festival of Trees, the Rutledge Youth Foundation Dinner, and the Williamsville High School library fund raiser at the Barnes & Nobel Book Fair. Kathleen has balanced a full schedule of academics, extracurriculars, community service, as well as working as a waitress part-time at a local restaurant. After graduation, Kathleen plans to earn a Bachelor's degree in Architectural Studies, followed by a Master's Degree, with the goal of becoming an architect. December Student of the Month Williamsville High School is pleased to announce that senior Samantha Pelc has been selected as the December Student of the Month. Samantha was selected by the senior class sponsors on the basis of academic performance, extra-curricular participation, and personal traits. Samantha will receive a $100 savings bond from the Williamsville State Bank and Trust will also be eligible for Student of the Year. Samantha is 4th in her class with a GPA of 5.02. She is an Illinois State Scholar, a member of the High Honor Roll, the PSAE All Exceeds Team, Who's Who Among American High School Students, the United States Achievement Academy of Who's Who in Speech and Drama, the United States Achievement Academy of Who's Who in Leadership, and the WHS chapter of the Natonal Honor Society. Samantha is currently serving as President of the National Honor Society and is in her 4th year of serving as President of her class. Samantha has been very involved in extra-curricular activities. She is a member of the Youth & Government program and is currently serving as the Editor of the program's newspaper. She is also involved with the WHS Drama Productions, Homecoming Court, Yearbook Committee, and The Chamber. She is a member of the Lady Bullets golf and softball teams, as well as a co-ed indoor soccer team. During her senior year, Samantha served as Captain of the girls' golf team which enjoyed a very successful year, finishing 7th in the IHSA State Finals. Samantha has volunteered as a Vacation Bible School counselor, as a staff member for Snowflake and Snowflurry, at WJHS basketball and softball camps, at the Rail Golf Course, and at the WHS Teen Gift and Community Food Drive. She has also helped staff concession stands for the WHS Holiday Tournament, NHS Induction Ceremony, Junior Class Prom fundraising and the After Prom Committee. After graduation, Samantha plans to earn a degree in Pre-Med and further her education in the field of Optometry. Congratulations to Samantha and her parents, Joe and Lisa Pelc of Sherman!
Cora Jeffers November Student of the Month Williamsville High School is pleased to announce that senior Cora Jeffers has been selected as the November Student of the Month. Cora was selected by the senior class sponsors on the basis of academic performance, extra-curricular participation, and personal traits. Cora will receive a $100 savings bond from the Williamsville State Bank and will also be eligible for Student of the Year. Cora is 2nd in her class with a GPA of 5.08. She is a member of the High Honor Roll, PSAE All Exceeds Team, and is the current Vice President of the WHS Chapter of the National Honor Society. Every year at WHS, Cora has also been elected to Vice President of her class. Because of her personal qualities of leadership, dependability, service, scholarship, patriotism, and citizenship, Cora received the 2009 OAR award. This award was voted on by both faculty and peers. Cora has been very involved in extra-curricular activities. She is a member Pof SAVE, Drama, Madrigals, Vocal Jazz, Youth & Government, as well as Lady Bullet Basketball and Softball. She has participated in IMEA choir competitions for Jazz and Concert Choirs while receiving All State Choir and Honors Choir recognition. In Youth & Government, Cora was named "Most Effective Lobbyist" in the 2007 State Assembly. In both basketball and softball, Cora has earned the First Team AIIConference Selection. As a member of the WHS Drama Department, Cora has participated in various roles, including the lead role of Sandy in Grease. She has also lent her musical talents to the orchestra in many productions. Cora has volunteered at the Mini O'Bierne Crisis Nursery Store, SUMC Vacation Bible School, Sandburg Elementary School, and the Springfield Theater Center. She is active in the Sherman United Methodist Church's Youth Group and is a substitute pianist at Elkhart Methodist Church. Besides a full load of academics and extra-curriculars, Cora has worked as a news carrier for the State Journal-Register and is currently working as a teaching assistant for Kid's Place. After graduation, Cora plans to earn a degree in Music Education. Congratulations to Cora and her parents, Steve and Kelley of Sherman!

Trevor Thompson September Student of the Month Williamsville High School is
pleased to announce that senior Trevor Thompson has been selected the
September Student of the Month. Trevor was selected by the senior class
sponsors on the basis of academic performance, extra-curricular
participation, and personal traits. Trevor will receive a $100 savings bond
from the Williamsville State Bank and will also be eligible for Student of
the Year. Trevor is 3rd in his class with a weighted GPA of 5.05.
He is a High Honor Roll student and is a member of the WHS chapter of the
National Honor Society. He is also an inductee of the National Honor Roll.
Trevor has been recognized by the US Achievement Academy for Who's Who in
Leadership and Who's Who in Speech/Drama. Trevor is also a member of the
PSAE All Exceeds Team for WHS. Besides being outstanding academically, Trevor has also
being involved in Bullet athletics and many extra curricular activities.
Trevor has excelled in Cross Country, Track and Basketball. During his
Junior year, Trevor has won the Sixth Man Award in Basketball and the
Coaches Award in Cross Country. Trevor has been a member of the Student
Council, the Yearbook staff, and the Youth and Government program. He has
also been very active in the WHS Drama department. During last year's play,
The Pink Panther, Trevor played the lead role of Inspector Clouseau. Community service involvement completes this well
rounded student. He has given his time to help United Cerebral Palsy as a
telethon volunteer and the Mini O'Beirne Crisis Center as a Holiday Store
volunteer. He has helped WHS by decorating for prom, working concessions at
the Holiday Basketball Tournament, and setting up and tearing down for
Pre-Leg activities for the Youth and Government program. He is also an active
member of the 114th Illinois Volunteer Infantry Regiment, in which he
participates as a Civil War re-enactor and volunteers weekly throughout each
