March Student of the Month - Nick Sorenson
Williamsville High School is pleased to announce that senior Nick Sorenson has been selected as the May Student of the Month. Nick was selected by the senior class sponsors on the basis of academic performance, extra-curricular participation, and personal traits. He will receive a $100 cash award from
the Williamsville State Bank and will also be eligible for Student of the Year.
Nick is consistently listed on the WHS high honor roll. While at WHS, Nick has participated in a variety of activities including Bullet Football, Youth and Government, Band, two years of Jazz Band, and two years of Scholastic Bowl. He is a PSAE Exceeds award recipient and represented his class on the 2012 Homecoming Court and 2013 Prom Court. Nick is currently serving as the President of the Class of 2013 and President of the WHS Youth and Government chapter.
Outside of WHS, Nick is a member of the Air National Guard, achieving the rank of Airman Basic. He also works in food service at Memorial Hospital.
Nick has volunteered in the community helping clean up the Village of Williamsville following a tornado, assisting with the Bullets football camp, collecting food for the WHS Community Food Drive, performing with the WHS Jazz Band at the Springfield annual Retired and Senior Volunteer Program Recognition Dinner, and playing Taps at the Williamsville Memorial Day Ceremony. He has also volunteered his time working at the State Fair to raise money for the football team.
Nick plans to attend Illinois State University, majoring in Recreation and Park Management with a History minor.
